Founded in 1951, the Capital Region Ostomy Association (CROA) is a support group comprised primarily of people who have had ostomy surgery. The group meets in the Capital District Area several times a year. The meetings are open to the public.
CROA has been a source of emotional support and information for its members and their caregivers for over 6 decades. Collectively, the members offer a wealth of knowledge based on their experiences. The intent of our group is to help people with an ostomy, and those care for them, lead full and productive lives.
Meetings provide opportunities to ask questions, or to listen to those who understand the journey, while being in a comfortable and friendly setting amongst others with mutual appreciation and respect for offering and receiving support.
CROA has been the host to nursing students, wound and ostomy care nurses, physicians, representatives from ostomy supply companies, psychologists, dietitians, and others.
The information, views and opinions provided by the group are not intended to be, nor should they be construed as medical advice. Participants are always advised to discuss any medical condition or treatment with appropriate medical personnel.
